To Learn, To Serve, To Advance
WHAT WE DO
Founded by Jane Doe in 2000, 826 Gryphon Squadron was established in order to provide children an environment in which they can reach their fullest potential. What started off as a small community venue has grown into an enterprise that’s committed to empowering children of all backgrounds.

ABOUT THE SQUADRON
"Strength and Readiness"
826 Gryphon Squadron has been around for a number of years now, with its debut in 1973. Since its begining, 826 has had a rich history of being one of the leading units in the Hamilton Area for Air Cadet training, however we were not quite the first.
The first two Air Cadet Squadrons were 62 Westdale Squadron (1941-1973), and 81 East Hamilton Squadron (1942-1973). Together, these Squadrons paraded approximately 300 Cadets. In 1943, 81st East Hamilton was renamed to the 81st Hamilton Lions Squadron. Plans were also in place to establish Squadrons under sponsorship of the Knights of Columbus, and to establish a unit in Dundas.
These two Squadrons remained parading until 1973, at which time it was decided that they would amalgamate into one: "826 Gryphon Squadron".
At that time, 826 Squadron paraded at HMCS Star, until a point came where it was decided to mve the unit into the John Weir Foote Armories on James Street North, which is where the Squadron continues to parade today.
